Polar Bear Mid Point
We are at the mid point of the Polar Bear league and so far have escaped the really harsh weather. This coming week could be a different story. The teams are fairly even for the most part. In general scores are down somewhat but I think mostly from being out of practice.
Starting February 5th Hot Wells will provide league shooters a dedicated practice and make-up field. This will be on a first come first serve basis. If none of the shooters are shooting a make-up a shooter will have the ability to practice certain stations and not necessarily shoot a full round. If you just need to work on station 3, 4 and 5 you will be able to do so.
Hot Wells is offering this on a trial basis to see if enough shooters utilize this dedicated field to make it worth their while to manage it. If you have every had to try and shoot a practice with 3 guys sharing a home defense shotgun you will understand the value of this dedicated field.
When you go out to practice on a Saturday you will need to tell them your a league shooter, your name and team name. Ask for the dedicated field. The practice field will be open from 9:00 AM until 6:00 PM. Of course let know if you are shooting a make-up round.
My hope is that we utilize this dedicated field in order to convince them that we should have this option through out the shooting season. I know that I will practice more knowing that we have this available.

New Club Secretary
2011 Season
The 2011 season will have 50 shooters participating in the Polar Bear league. We will have 8 male squads and two ladies teams. In the spring we expect an additional ladies team. We are currently short two ladies to form the third team. Due to the number of men's teams it will be necessary to have one squad shoot on Wednesday night. We also have a few members who cannot shoot on Thursday nights regardless. I also expect to pick up at least one additional men's team in the spring.
I expect this to be a great year for the club. We have a few things in the works this year that will provide us with the funds to have a great awards ceremony. Our new club Secretary Kirby Volger is working on the clubs ability to enjoy the benefits of 501 c status. More details on this effort will be published later.
I ask that you check for updates on this blog during the season. It's much more manageable for me to post information here than filling up your email inbox.
I want to thank all the members past and present who help make this a great time for all. Without your help the club would not be entering into it's third year.
Marty
